It was another GREAT year for Susquehanna Graphic Design at the AAF ADDY Awards! SU won 13 of the 20 awards handed out in the student category, including the coveted Judges' Choice Award and the $500 BEST of SHOW Award! Congratulations to all of the winners - there were MANY entries from numerous other schools and the competition was pretty stiff. Here are the winners: BEST of SHOW and GOLD ADDY winner: Joey Vivacqua's Ultimate Rivalry DVD packaging. JUDGES' CHOICE and GOLD ADDY winner: Colton Schools's Elmer Gantry Theater Poster. GOLD ADDY WINNERS: Loren Schott (Potato Chips Packaging), Krystal Duke (Café Vienna Packaging), Colton Schools (Death of a Salesman Poster). SILVER ADDY WINNERS: Katie Ragan (Gypsy Magazine), Erica Simon (Ladybug Stationery and Comicon Ad Campaign), Eleni Dimou (Ichabod IPA Beer Packaging), Colton Schools (Gaslight Anthem Poster and JFK Book Jacket). It was also a HUGE night for me personally as SU Alumni won many awards in the professional competition. Two great friends of our program, Seth Sirbaugh and Robby Prall of Tribe won BEST IN SHOW and JUDGES' CHOICE in the PROFESSIONAL competition. Robby graduated from Susquehanna in 2009, and I was Seth's professor at Shepherd University way back in the late 1990s. Robby and Seth give back by spending a day workshopping with SU sophomores and senior students each and every fall. We couldn't be prouder of these of these guys - they deserve every success. I've included their show-stopping pieces in the images below. Next time they visit, pay attention! Finally, big congratulations to all of SU's art department faculty, but Amanda Lenig in particular. Amanda is a wonderful designer and teacher, and almost all of the packaging design winners, including Joey's DVD package, came from her class. Students can only do great work if they have great projects, and Amanda's newest DVD project is a real hall of famer. We are very lucky to have her, and I'm proud to have been her teacher!
